What to expect

Welcome to Beacon on Bank St Counseling. We are privileged to be working alongside you on this journey. The decision to seek counseling is not an easy one. We want to help make your experience comfortable and non-intimidating, so we would like to help prepare you for what to expect.


Counseling is a cooperative process where goals are mutually developed. Your success will largely depend on your willingness to participate and continue to work outside of sessions. There is no quick fix and your counselor cannot do the work for you to make you reach your goals. However, a good counselor will walk alongside you and help guide you toward a solution.

Session and Fee Information:

Counseling sessions are typically 50 minutes in length.

Counselors are assigned based on the specific needs and preferences of the client, as well as client and counselor availability. Unless a certain counselor is requested, we will assess client need and assign an appropriate counselor.

Beacon on Bank St is a not-for-profit organization. The agreed upon fee is a donation for services rendered and should be handled at the end of each session. Payment can be made by cash, check (made payable to Market Street Mission) or through PayPal. Please include counselor name with payment.

Please note that if you are experiencing financial hardship and you are unable to arrange for payments at this time, Beacon on Bank St will not deny services due to inability to pay.

Cancellation Policy:

Time is set aside in advance specifically for each client appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Please be willing to pay the agreed upon donation if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment time.
